The Foot in Diabetes

For clinicians

Capability, not just CPD points

LimbWise is a structured education programme for diabetic foot care — built on the published evidence, mapped to IWGDF guidance, and organised so you can see exactly where your practice stands and what to build next.

The Capability Framework

The framework spans 20 dimensions of diabetic foot practice, delivered through a library of education modules. Each module pairs a rigorous evidence base with practical teaching — the same material that feeds the articles and podcast here.

Foundations

The MDT overview, screening and risk stratification, neuropathy detection, psychological impact, and ulcer classification — the ground every clinician stands on.

Core clinical domains

Wound healing and management, PAD and revascularisation, infection and osteomyelitis, offloading, Charcot, advanced therapies, and lymphoedema.

Advanced practice & diagnostics

Care pathways, radiology, dermatology, post-ulcer care and remission, patient education, the renal foot, and pharmacology.

Professional practice

Research and evidence appraisal, leadership and service design, vascular decision-making, systems thinking, and applying the IWGDF guidelines critically.

How clinicians use it

  1. Assess

Test yourself against the framework to find your strengths and gaps across the 20 dimensions.

  2. Learn

Work through evidence-based modules targeted at the dimensions where you want to grow.

  3. Demonstrate

Track your development into a capability profile you can use for appraisal and career progression.
